Browser (Web Browser)

Web browser or browser is a piece of software such as safari, Google chrome, Mozilla Fire fox, Internet Explorer etc. The browser software allows a computer to access and display

documents, view pictures, hear sound, and view video clips from the world wide web.

File Transfer Protocol (FTP)

File Transfer Protocol is the standard method for downloading and uploading files over the internet. With FTP, you can login to a server and transfer files (meaning you can "send" or "receive" files).

Hyper Text Transfer Protocol (HTTP)

HTTP is the abbreviation for Hyper Text Transfer Protocol. It is the set of rules by which Web pages are transferred across the Internet.

Uniform Resource Locator (URL)

The uniform Resource Locator (URL) is an addressing scheme that is used on the internet to locate resources and/or services on the World Wide Web. Basically the URL is the address of a computer file that has been put on a computer server to access the Internet.

Web Page

A Web page is a single hypertext file or a page that is part of a Web site. The web page is created using web development programs like HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language).

Search engine

Search engine is a software program which allows finding and locating information about any topics or web site of any organization. Google, yahoo etc are the common and popular search engine.

E-mail

E-mail also known as electronic mail allows electronically transmission of messages by the computer. It is an internet service that allows sending and receiving messages through internet. It has the capability to send messages at any time and to anyone. Email is cheaper and faster than an ordinary postal mail.

E-mail Account

Email Account is valid identification name or ID of authorized users provided by ISPs or created using any of the email programs.
An email account contains user name, domain name, @ sign, domain type and country code. You should have an e-mal account to send or receive e-mail through the Internet. There are several websites on the internet that offers to create free e-mail account. Some popular websites that provide free e-mail services are: Gmail, Yahoo, hotmail, etc.

E-mail Address

The E-mail address is also called e-mail ID. It is the location of the personal mailbox in the internet. Each person has unique e-mail address in the internet. An e-mail address has two main parts:
User name and Host name
The general format of e-mail address is: username@hostname
Example: anuj@gmail.com
Here, anuj is the user name and gmail.com is the host name. The host name is the name of e-mail server, which is providing e-mail services.
